Shotgun

Shotgun

Time for a Sing-along with George, who’s seriously happy in the passenger seat!

Did you know that ‘riding shotgun’ comes from a time when stage-coaches dashed around the new colonies of America and Australia?

A driver controlled the horses and the person in the passenger seat defended the carriage from attackers, usually with a gun. Carriages carried post, money, gold, people and anything else that was valuable.

These days ‘riding shotgun’ means you’re in the passenger seat and helping the driver if they need it, maybe…calling directions or answering their phone. It also means you’re important in the driver’s life. Maybe that’s why George is ‘feeling like a someone’.

The B flat chord is a bit difficult, but practice, practice, practice and you’ll get it!

Here’s a good video for that. Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything. Just copy what he does with his fingers.

And here’s the Ukelele Teacher doing the whole song.
