Love & Curiosity
Love & Curiosity
Kylie van Dam
December 2024
I’ve long had a friend who lived down the road.
She worked six days in her bookshop,
Raised two kids on her own.
And when we were older, we used to drink tea.
I was struggling with my own kids,
Career, identity.
And she’d listen, she’d listen, to me.
And we’d laugh, we’d cry,
We’d question and rage.
And try to find some meaning to our
Rollercoaster days.
We’d read, we’d search,
We’d hold each other’s hand
And finally shrug our shoulders
Knowing we’d never understand
This life and what it’s all about.
And then one day she went away.
Explained it all in a letter.
Said she thought she’d finally
Figured something out
And it was making her feel better.
Figured something out.
And she said…
Life is everything and nothing at all
And the searching’s what we do
to stop humanity from falling.
But love is the key.
It’s all there really is.
Through the everything and nothing
It’s love that keeps us moving together.
Love’s what life’s about.
So I’ll love and give for evermore.
Be as tidy and respectful as can be.
But if I’m right and love’s what life’s about,
Then surely
The rest is for me.
So I’ve gone,
To follow my curiosity.
I couldn’t tell you where yet.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
But I’ll love and give for evermore.
Be as tidy and respectful as can be.
But if I’m right and love’s what life’s about,
Then surely
The rest is for me.
Yes I’ll love and give for evermore.
Be as tidy and respectful as can be.
But if I’m right and love’s what life’s about,
Then surely
The rest is for me.
So she went
To follow her curiosity.
She couldn’t tell me where yet,
We just had to wait and
See.
Oh she went,
To follow her curiosity.
She couldn’t tell me where yet,
But next Thursday,
There’ll be
Tea.
